Displacement requires that any object that is displaced be moved from its original location to another location. Think of picking up a stone, walking across a field, and putting it down. The calculated Work is the mass of the stone multiplied by the length of the field – mass (m) multiplied by Displacement (D).
This means that in theory, weight training involves no Work, because we pick up the weight and put it down again, theoretically in the same spot. While it’s the subject of a funny Planet Fitness ad, Displacement needs to be thought of in weight training as the number of cycles of movement, or the number of repetitions, per set of a given exercise.
In every physical action, Displacement has a secondary potential. Displacement may occur inside the fascial web as the result of action that is additive or subtractive to the structure.
In order for Displacement to be viewed as positive, it must build upon the structure of the web, thus improving its ability to undergo plastic deformation. Plastic deformation is the ability of a structure to undergo stress, deform, and return to its original unstressed state.
This is ironic, given that this requires that the structure resist Displacement as a result of being positively Displaced! That said, negative Displacement occurs when the web undergoes deformation, its tensile strength in the deformed state is exceeded, and tearing in the web occurs.
The localized tear results in a global reorientation of every structure in the body, resulting in the de-centration of joints, as well as the disorder of location of the organs.
