The Primal Rotational Pattern

The primal rotational pattern is a movement cascade that occurs when we change position because of the global effect fascia creates across the joint complexes as well as the orientation of the viscera. When we move, muscles contract and change their physical arrangement relative to one another. They are attached to our bones in a series of levers. Fascia is anchored on the bones, ligaments, and tendons, and pervasive throughout the muscle tissue. The mobilization of the kinetic chain creates Displacement of the entire body.

Kinetic Chain

The kinetic chain cannot move locally without moving globally unless there is dysfunction in the system. Where there is dysfunction there is inefficiency. Assuming that exercise selection is such that all fascia must either be mobilized or rebuilt so that the total can be mobilized, we can theoretically understand and quantify all the physical qualities:

  • Work
    • Force / Torque
      • mass
      • acceleration
      • lever arm length
      • angle of application
    • Displacement
  • Power
    • Energy
    • time

at the level of the joints in situ within a given workout.

Workouts Within Primal Rotational Patterns

Workouts in Primal Rotational Patterns are assigned a grade based on the number of correctly-performed sets. The workout grade is expressed as a percentage of the total program completed. Because we are quantifying the endogenous physical qualities, the percent completion is correlated with the mobility and motility of the tissue.

The percent completion number grades the workout in terms of whatever quantity you want to examine: Work, Force, Displacement, etc., albeit from a relative sense.
